Menstrual cramps are an inevitable part of every woman's life. If they wish or don't, facing those inconveniences in every cycle is a must. Moreover, cramps affect many people before and during periods while some experience mild cramps, while others aren't lucky. In some cases, the menstrual cramps may be serious and cause a serious dent in your daily life. If periods cramp you every month, then learn some proven ideas to escape from the discomforts of your busy life.

Tips to Handle Periods Trouble

1. Use a Heat Patch

Using a heated patch or wrapping your abdomen helps to ease the pain and relaxes the muscles. Also, heat improves the blood circulation in the abdomen which helps to reduce the pain. It is necessary to have heat patches for women who face menstrual cramps. You can buy them either online or at medical stores. Electric heating pads and hot water bottles help when you are not moving around.

2. Massage your Tummy with Essential Oil

Research suggests some essential oil to ease your menstrual cramps when massaged for the abdomens, the essential oils are,

  • Lavender
  • Sage
  • Rose
  • Clove
  • Cinnamon
  • Marjoram

Before using these oils, dilute them with coconut or jojoba oil. This will help the oil spread over the large skin area. Also, do some patch tests to know the effects of oil like allergies in case of safety. If there is any stop using it, particularly in sensitive areas.

3. Do Exercise

According to a study, low to medium-intensity aerobic exercise may help to ease the pain caused by periods. Various studies found that women who exercise for over thirty minutes every day showed a significant reduction in period pain. To fit an aerobic exercise into your schedule, have a brisk walk during your lunch, dance to your favorite songs, and play your sport.

4. Soak in a Tub

Soaking yourselves in a hot bathtub will relieve your hip, abdomen, and pelvic region pain. Also, it will ease your muscles and the warmness of water will make you feel better. You can enhance the pain-relieving power by adding essential oil to the bathtub. Try to spend at least fifteen minutes in the bathtub to benefit in a good way.

5. Take Supplements

Studies suggest that different types of dietary supplements may help to reduce menstrual cramps. According to gynecologists, the use of magnesium helps in easing the pain effectively. Go with some home remedies like cinnamon, fennel seeds, coriander seeds, and ginger to ease the pain and regulate your blood flow. If you're not getting help from home remedies, speak to your doctor for other supplements to reduce your pain.

6. Avoid Caffeine and Salty Foods

Some foods will improve or worsen your menstrual cramps. Foods that reduce inflammation are fatty fish, berries, avocados, and extra virgin olive oil. Also be away from foods like coffee, soft drinks, salty foods, and alcohol that may cause bloating, nausea, and water retention. Taking proper foods and reducing the intake of alcohol will work better during periods. It reduces the pain and shortens and lightens the periods.

7. Stay Hydrated

Taking plenty of water and juices is necessary to prevent bloating and difficulty in passing stool. Dehydration will induce the pain to a severe level, so have a bottle of water to hydrate regularly. Plan to drink at least eight to nine glasses of water per day. Extend the glasses when you need more or feel thirsty. Moreover, eat healthy fruits and vegetables to prevent tiredness and fatigue. Excess bleeding and pain will put you in serious problems like vomiting, fatigue, and weakness.

8. Try Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a noninvasive method to relieve pain. Applying firm pressure to your body with fingers will relieve you of various symptoms. Many studies show that acupuncture will reduce the duration and severity of pain. Also, try the following steps,

  • Measure your inner ankle bone up with your fingertips
  • Frimley rub your abdomen and below several times
  • Repeat daily during your period as needed

9. Change your Sleeping Position

It is best to go with a fetal sleeping position for the cramps. This is because your abdomen or lower back will not carry any weight. Also change your positions according to your convenience, since the same posture will induce pain sometimes.

Sometimes you may get mood swings, so to avoid that, listen to some music and do medications to lessen your anxiety level. However, if the pain worsens, do not wait to consult your doctor.
