Motherhood is a wonderful moment that every woman looks forward to in her family life. 'Fertility' paves the way for that beautiful moment. Nowadays, you don't need to go to the hospital if you miss your periods. Because every woman can easily know her pregnancy by using a home pregnancy test kit, it is pretty simple to use and affordable. However, many don't know how to use it. So, let's take a closer look at it.
What is a Pregnancy Test Kit?
Pregnancy test kits let you know if you are pregnant or not with a simple test done at home. These kits are easily available at any medical shop; the cost depends on the brand. But most tests aren't very expensive. This kit measures the presence of a hormone known as Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) in your urine. After a fertilized egg attaches to the wall of the uterus, your body produces this hormone naturally. The presence of hormones reveals whether test results are positive or negative.
How to Use a Pregnancy Test Kit?
The two major types of pregnancy kits are available in India - test sticks and test strips. But pregnancy stripes are the most commonly available and used to detect pregnancy by many women.
- Buy a pregnancy test kit firstly.
- Sample should always be taken from the first-morning urine.
- Then, collect the urine in a small dry container and dip a testing stick into the liquid.
- Now, place 3 drops on the area marked for urination in the pregnancy test kit.
- Wait for 5-10 minutes to see the results.
How to Check Pregnancy with a Pregnancy Kit?
Based on the lines that appear in these kits, you can know whether you're pregnant or not.
If two pink lines appear on the display area of the kit in a good dark colour, the test is positive, which means you are pregnant.
If only one coloured line visible on display is, the test is negative, which means you are not pregnant.
Note:
Those with a regular menstrual cycle can take a pregnancy test 30 to 40 days after the last period.
You can repeat the test after 7-10 days if the result is incorrect.
It is just an initial test. If the pregnancy is confirmed, you should immediately go to the doctor and confirm the pregnancy based on the tests he recommended.
