Rosacea: Causes, Types, Symptoms, and Prevention

A chronic inflammatory skin disease that doesn’t have a cure and an unknown cause. Areas likely to get infected are the forehead, cheeks, and nose. Tiny, pus-filled lumps found in this area, symptoms can stir up eventually for a few months and be gone later. Acne, eczema, skin allergy, or natural ruddiness are mistaken for rosacea. Middle-aged women get infected most often.   

Types of Rosacea and Their Symptoms

1. Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea (ETR)

Subtype one correlates with flushing, facial redness, and visible blood vessels.

Symptoms

  • Sensitive and swollen skin
  • Tingling and irritating skin
  • Dry, scaly, and rough skin
  • Troubles in the eye

2. Papulopustular Rosacea

Subtype (acne) two co-ordinated with acne-like breakouts, affects middle-aged women.

Symptoms

  • Oily and sensitive skin
  • Visible torn blood vessels
  • Acne-like breakouts
  • Raise of patches and red skin

3. Rhinophyma

Subtype three is rare as it assists with other subtypes of rosacea. Generally, it affects men and is associated with thickening on the nose skin.

Symptoms

  • Broken blood vessels are visible
  • Heavy skin on the nose, cheeks, forehead, and ears
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Large pores

4. Ocular Rosacea

Subtype four targets the eye area.

Symptoms

  • Burst in eyelids blood vessels
  • Sting or burn sensation in the eyes
  • Itchy, dry, and cysts on the eyes
  • Bloodshot and watery eyes
  • Shrink in the vision

Causes of Rosacea

The exact cause is unknown, but researchers consider the following things have contributed to it:

  • Extreme temperature
  • Skin and hair care products
  • Malformation in the blood vessels
  • Demodex folliculorum, a skin mite
  • Bacteria are known as helicobacter pylori
  • Hereditary
  • Spicy foods, hot tea or coffee
  • Foods with ingredients like cinnamaldehyde (chocolate, tomatoes, etc.)
  • Alcohol and dairy products

Remedies for Rosacea

If you are not careful about rosacea, the situation might become critical, and rashes will be permanent.

  • Don’t rub or touch your face
  • Wash your face with a mild cleanser
  • Stop using alcohol or irritants-containing products
  • Avoid extreme temperatures.
  • Stop consuming alcohol and dairy products
  • Don’t interact with sunlight
  • Keep yourself away from outbreak flare-up foods

Outlook

Just by reading it, you can imagine how horrible to suffer from this disease. Symptoms affect your face, which can be a hindrance to your daily activities. For skin problems, relapsing is mandatory if there is a collapse in the maintaining condition. So, you have to be cautious 24/7 about your hygiene.
